Supplies

The following supplies are on the 14th floor.

  • Optics Benches - contains lenses, light boxes, etc.
  • Spectroscopes- of the tube and wedge variety.
  • Sextants- there are about 6 of these, of varying degrees of complexity.
  • Gratings - Two 600 line/mm spectroscope gratings, a box of 1000 line/mm slides (most of them are pretty beat up)
  • Textbooks for general education
  • meter sticks
  • flashlights (there are also some in the Transit Room)
  • vacuum tube
  • A LOT of bits and pieces for making a Camera
  • Two tuning fork resonance blocks
  • Assorted lenses and prisms (mostly in boxes)
  • Flasks for an atmosphere experiment
  • Gas discharge tubes for spectroscopy and the associated power supplies
  • Laser and attachments

Art Box:

  • rulers
  • blue tack
  • string
  • scissors
  • protractors
  • crayons and other drawing things
  • paper
  • balls (some of which are now on the roof of the Pupin entrance)
  • Tacks
  • fasteners

Kitchen Experiment Box:

  • salt
  • baking soda
  • vinegar
  • dried yeast
  • Food Dye
  • steel Wool
  • Hot Glue Gun

Ask Kenneth (Physics department) for:

  • Cloud Chamber for detecting Cosmic Rays (not sure if this is working)
  • Larger vacuum tube demonstrations
  • Doppler effect demonstrations

Other things

  • planispheres (of the plastic variety) are kept in the transit room. We only have 7 of them and only six are for 40deg N. (We should get more!)
  • SLR Digital Cameras (2)- Kept in the bottom drawer of Cameron's filing cabinet, along with chargers and shutter button extenders. To learn how to use, ask him or Destry (people familiar with DSLRS)
  • Green Laser Pointer- Ask Erika and she will give it to you. This has been lost in the past and so won't be in general circulation
  • 2 Laptops- Ceres and Pallas- Kept in the top of the filing cabinet next to Lia's Desk. Please sign them out and return the cord.
